Ecuador Terrifying Road
I hate road that wind across mountains, are narrower than the truck and have 1000 feet precipitous drops. Edges that fall away into nothing. Tom drives while I shiver and shake besides him

We are now in the process of deciding what goes where. Although we had a pretty good idea where everything was to go and the camper designed to accommodate all our stuff needed for on the road from satellite phone, camping chairs and table to dirty washing. We designed it in a modular style so that containers could be moved around. Our experience when we finally hit the road is to reorganize the camper several times before we are completely happy. Golden rule though everything has a final exact spot and it is always returned to that exact spot. We are never let wondering where on earth did we last have the can opener or duct tape.
Tom sitting at the table inside Camper
We have a 2 plate stove an Engel fridge a small sink and furnace opposite Tom. Tom is sitting at the working/eating table
Alongside the table are 6 large ammo boxes that can be removed if necessary. It is easy to access them and we will store our clothing, books, maps, and camping equipment etc in the boxes. We have travelled with these very boxes across Africa and they have survive harsh conditions and treatment and still are in prefect condition. Under the seats is more storage, a water tank and a porta potti.
This is the sitting area with the ammo boxes removed and the area converted to a sleeping area. It is long enough for Tom to stretch out fully, his is the long side. It is cosy and we are squished but we can put a thermarest on the floor if necessary, however been married for nearly 40 years we have learnt to sleep with each others elbows and knees digging into each other.
This is Janet sitting at the table with the pop up roof down. Giving me still lots of space to work, make a meal and sleep. Considering the size of the camper we have really got sufficient space to meet all our needs and wants.
Outfitters have completed our camper so we are heading down to Longmont, Colorado to pick it up next week. The trip is getting closer
Using GoogleSketch we designed our pop up camper. We wanted to make the pop up camper liveable without the top popped up for situations when we would be camping in really bad weather or unsafe locations. Thus the challenge was to make it modular so that in emergencies we could still cook and sleep in the camper without the camper pop up raised. Finally we settled on a design that had movable storage boxes that would be out of the way for daily travel yet could be moved into the passage way allowing us to make a full bed for sleeping. Below is a picture of the pop up with the roof raised.

Our camper for our expedition around the world is finally being built. It has been tons of work designing it for an planned 3 year on the road journey. We learnt a lot from our previous overland journeys and just could not find a ready built pop up camper that would meet our needs. We downloaded GoogleSketch and began the task of designing the camper. We wanted a camper with minimum weight with maximum storage space which would fit onto the back of our Nissan Titan. Then the search began of finding a camper builder prepared to build what we needed. Finally after research and reviewing different options we choose Outfitter Camper located in Colorado.
